Link Block and Hit Animation
A downloadable animation
My submission for the 'Search for a Star' Games Animation Challenge 2024, based on the prompt of 'Get to Cover'.
This is a short animation loop of Link from the Legend of Zelda series taking cover being a shield before getting hit by a massive attack, including idle loops. This contains 6 separate animation states:
- A looping idle state
- 2 variations on the idle state
- A charge-up/preparation state
- A release/hit state
- A recovery state that goes back into the idle loop

Packaged is the Unreal project used to create the animation + additional assets.
The Animation Sequence can be found in the following level:
Content > Scene4
In the Level Sequence select 'LinkSequence' and play
Also packaged is a video of the animation and a presentation explaining my production process

Some nice, if a little restricted, animation work. Would be nice to have seen some variations of idles etc. The jump back up could maybe do with some grounding in reality to help sell the move a bit more, but generally some good solid basics in this submission.
